What is it?

Kambô vaccination is also known under the name of Campu, Sapo or Vacino Floresta. It is a discharge (venom) acquired from a frog (Phyllomedusa Bicolor) from tropical forests of South America. Initially 53 tribes used this substance to cure snake bites, infectious diseases, yellow fever or malaria. Also, it was and still is widely used by indigenous people to enhance the ability of sensory perception. This was done for the hunting purposes as the hunters would have to hunt during the night sometimes, go through a jungle without eating for many days, or in many cases face wild animals. Presently we have only 13 tribes that use Kambô for detoxication, immune system strengthenin as well as spiritual cleansing. Some still use it for hunting to this day (tribes as Katukina and Matses), From a medical point of view, when acquiring a Kambô vaccination, the immune system is being strengthened as well as body gets detoxified and internal organs cleansed and strengthened. In addition Kambô would stimulate blood circulation so that the toxins are dispersed from the body much quicker. This is very effective method of detoxifying and strengthening organism and it is gaining more and more recognition in Europe, as such a quick method of detoxication was not known before.

What happens during the vaccination?

During the vaccination several burns would be made over the skin using a burning stick. A previously prepared paste would be applied by a Kambô practitioner (shaman) on those burns. A seconds after that medicine penetrates directly into lymphatic system which causes immediate defence reaction of the whole body.

What does medicine consist off?

Phyllomedusa and phyllokinin expand blood vessels which increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier which in effect facilitates access to brain for other peptides. Two of the other identified peptides are caerulein and sauvagine causing a blood pressure  decrease accompanied by tachycardia. Those peptides

stimulate adrenal cortex and pituitary gland which in effect increases psychological and physical condition as well as increases body resistance to diseases. Dermorfina and deltorfina belong to opioid peptides. Those work 4000 times stronger than morphine and 40 times stronger than beta-endorphins, which strengthens immune system and destroys pathogens. Adenoregulin is another component of this vaccine. This peptide is a main ingredient of human cells and is helpful in curing illnesses such as depression, stroke or Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore the frog venom shows antibiotic properties and stimulates immune system to produce antibodies. It causes increased manufacturing of erythrocytes (red blood cells) and thrombocytes (platelets) in blood circulation. It also has anti-viral qualities and can be considered as the strongest natural antibiotic. Kambô also consists of painkillers such as Demorphin.

How is the surplus being harvested?

The frog Kambô stands on the peak of food chain in its natural biological environment. It’s habitat is found in the rainforest of north-west Amazon. Those frogs live on trees and it is easy to locate them as they sing together with announcing rain. Shamans simply gather those frogs from the trees, collect the specimen on the piece of steak and then they would let the frog go back to its freedom. Amphibian does not suffer during this process. It is often necessary for shamans to call the frog using sounds that imitates the frog’s rain songs. This is very effective way of encouraging the frogs to come into close proximity of people. For the indigenous people of Amazon Kambô frog is the spirit of forest and it needs to be treated with respect!
